The combination of good quality recessed or surface mounted
downlights and highly visual decorative lighting creates the basis
for great lighting in the kitchen.
It is important that you consider carefully where your lighting
is positioned. For example recess downlights should be set to
the 'work surfaces', set back from any cupboards but as far
as possible illuminating directly over the surfaces.
If you are designing the kitchen from scratch ensure your
lighting is on more than one circuit, so if you have recessed
ceiling lights, lighting over an 'island area', wall lights and
under cupboard lighting you can quite easily have 3/4
circuits - these can be controlled individually, to great effect.
